My Mid-year Performance Review September 24, 2007
Posted by Alfajri Hasdi in personal, works.trackback
I had done my mid-year performance review with my boss. It really means a lot to me since I have been working with BP for 10 months. He gave positive comments for what I had done through this year. This is my performance review summary with my boss, his comments is with the blue fonts (RLK):
SECTION A: PLANNING PERFORMANCE – WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Core Objectives -The main tasks or roles and accountabilities for your job.
- To complete the Challenger program in the Process Engineer discipline in an outstanding manner
- Process Engineering activities to support developing Upstream and LNG Plant Facilities process design for the Phase II Project. RLK – With some direction from the lead project engineers, Fajri prepared the technical information packages for all of the Pre-FEED Engineering Studies for the LNG expansion contract. This required him to become very familiar with the Tangguh Phase 1 Trains 1&2 document and drawing data base and design information. He listened to the internal challenge session we had in May regarding these data packages and did a very good job of creating a high quality product that we incorporated into the contract bid.
- Provide input to Phase II Team activities related to Project Management and Major Project Common Process (MPCP). RLK – Fajri will focus on providing capex profiles and documentation for the future Tangguh development scenarios for the remainder of 2007.
Special Objectives – Other activities or special projects in addition to your main tasks.
- Challenger Program Objectives: RLK – Fajri is on track with all objectives. He will prepare to review his status with the new Engineering Manager in October.
- Core Competencies – achieve awareness level for all categories
- Fundamental Competencies – achieve awareness level for all categories
- Discipline Competencies – achieve awareness level for Process Engineer and Project Management discipline
- Calculate saturated water content and condensed water – production profile. RLK – complete, high quality.
- Provide quantity and quality data for produced water re-injection study. RLK – quantity complete, but further study on hold to 2008.
- Develop spreadsheet to calculate condensate, CO2, BOG volumes, and fuel by field. Update LNG conversion by field. RLK – complete, but need to re-verify with marketing team and document the LNG sales volumes and verify the “Demand Profile” our team is providing to subsurface team for scenario models.
- Preparing information for engineering study: RLK – excellent job preparing the bid information work packages.
- ORF
- Onshore Compression
- Flare System
- Utilities Tie-in
- Condensate Storage & Shipping
- Evaluate condensate loading & storage volumes required for 2 and 3 trains. Consider 2 tanks and 3 tanks system. RLK – good job. This task enabled Fajri to gain experience in regards to understanding the quality of input data and the time / energy to devote and qualification he should document in his work output product. The Tangguh PSC gas is so lean that the fraction of condensate is very small and the volumes / composition from exploration / appraisal well tests are questionable. The Tangguh Project team recognized this high degree of uncertainty and decided to provide two “100%” capacity Stabilizer trains based upon a best guess of composition and rates to ensure overall plant availability. Fajri probably spent too much time trying to calculate an exact production profile for Condensate whereas an experienced engineer would have spent very little time on “a volume” and more on a “potential range”. Having said that, it is necessary to do this type of detailed work to gain a relative understanding of data quality and work objective.
- Confirm emissions and discharge forecast for 3 trains as input to the Phase II AMDAL (Environmental and Social Impact Assessment) documents. RLK – This task is not started. I advised Fajri that we would not be required to report GHG emissions for the 3rd Train until the project is sanctioned. However, I still would like for him to prepare, by the end of this year or early 2008, a draft Excel workbook that lists all of the emissions sources for the 3-train case, “automatically” calculates the various emissions and provides a direct input sheet for BP’s GHG reports.
- Contribute to key Phase II documents (Basis of Design, technology Plan, FEED bid package, etc.)
- Support MPCP assurance activities (Peer Assists, PHSSER, HAZID, etc.). RLK – Fajri will be the scribe for the pre-FEED LNG expansion PHSSER in 4Q.
Developing Others – Actions to transfer knowledge, coach, mentor, lead or support others.
- Coordinate Development Team for produced gas compression plan and track status activities
Learning & Development – Actions to help achieve your objectives and develop competencies.
- Develop understanding of BP Indonesia & worldwide operations, Tangguh LNG business and be able to perform Process Engineer capabilities as describe in the file “BP Challenger Program”
- Develop competencies as listed for Process Engineer and Project Management in the competencies for Challenger - RLK – update by 1st October
- Increase English competency level using BP Indonesia in-house resources. AHA – Fajri had completed his Active Speaking Skills Course and will continue his improvement for technical writing. He will provide 2 technical documents for the next task which are the instruction for the development scenario worksheet that he created and the technical review about the sensitivity for pipeline and reservoir capacity over staging pressure in the ORF.
- Complete training plan in PDP form. RLK -issue updated PDP by 1st October
- Obtain feedback on competencies at least every 6 months. RLK – request feedback from Mark Florida by 1st October.
- Take Basic Capital Values Process and Project Management Essentials courses (2008)
- Take online course using BP e-learning licensed system, IPIMS (6 hours/week) RLK- update training documentation with the courses you have completed.
- Utilize BP internal website & other media to learn about the industry (1 hour/week)
- Visit Phase I fabrication yard
- RLK: LDI Gas Handling, Conditioning and Processing Facilities course – completed May 2007.
SECTION B: INTERIM REVIEWS – HOW ARE YOU DOING?
Agreed Outcomes and Actions – Following the discussions.
Fajri is performing and an outstanding level in 2007 thus far. He has been given many challenging assignments with limited direction and he consistently meets and sometimes exceeds expectations. He is progressing nicely with the Challenger program and has supplemented the BP provided training with several IPIMS courses. I asked Fajri to make sure his training plan / schedule reflects all of the online courses he has completed and that he update his technical CoL in preparation for review with the new Engineering Manager that will join the team in September.
I have added my assessment of Fajri’s performance on objectives in the relevant section, above. In particular, I would like to recognize the exceptional work Fajri is doing with coordinating our team’s capital and Opex input to the development scenarios. There are over 300 cost entry items required for each scenario and he has created a very useful Excel workbook template to document and translate this information into an easy to assess executive summary.
